As we’re nearing the end of our time in Cambodia, we thought we’d share some further observations we’ve come across so far……

The very casual Police force – normally asleep in hammocks or surfing on their phones. Correct uniform seems to be optional, any random combination seems acceptable. Have also noticed how often 24hr police stations appear to be closed.

If you want to rent a scooter, although strictly not allowed, you can do so almost anywhere! Why not rent one whilst picking up your groceries!

Whilst having a refreshing beer take a trip down memory lane, with the sound of Aswad, Don’t Turn Around & Opus, Life is Life amongst others on permanent loop. Hadn’t heard these tunes for many years!

We were curious about the number 168 which appears on many things, take away stands, hotel signage & transport to name a few. It’s translation into Chinese, when spoken, sounds like ‘fortune all the way’. It is therefore deemed a lucky number, bringing prosperity.

As many businesses are part of the family home, using the bathroom in a restaurant can mean that you literally are using the family bathroom. Shower gel & toothbrushes on display!

Ladies in pyjamas, seems to be an acceptable attire at any time of the day, or night! We were even served breakfast by a lady wearing hers. Whether they be adorned with teddies, cartoon characters or flowers, anything goes 😁

Finally for this section is WiFi – it’s everywhere, and usually pretty good at that. From the smallest food stall to buses & the corner shop. Passwords are not very secure or imaginative it has to be said, the one I’m currently on is 66669999. Staying connected has never been easier!
