Since our last visit to Goa we have enjoyed some great holidays, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Borneo… but where to next?
Visa’s have changed for some countries, not issued for as long as before or more difficult to obtain, many of the hostels and budget guesthouses appear to have gone out of business and the prices of flights have increased dramatically. So for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic we are free to travel but having a dilemma of where to! Ideally we want to spend two to three months away, perhaps back to Malaysia where we dashed home from in March, Goa if the visa situation changes or Vietnam if the tourist visa for three months is reinstated. Laos has always been on the list too, but part of us wants the reassurance of familiarity as we dip our toes back into travelling …

What did keep us sane during lockdown was writing up our diaries from our winter away in 2015 / 2016. following redundancy we travelled to Bangkok and explored Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai before moving onto Cambodia. What an amazing country that is, desperately sad times have now been replaced with a vibrant friendly vibe that is very welcoming to tourists. Vietnam from north to south, was next – probably our favourite country that we have been fortunate to visit before moving onto Goa for some rest and recuperation. Whilst in Goa we made a visit to Varanasi, and what an experience that is!
The diary of our time away is now available to either download from Amazon or to purchase as a paperback book, hopefully it will bring back memories to any of you who have visited these amazing countries, or encourage others to give them a go….
