Bangkok, where do we begin? Amazing city and as per the Murray Head song everyone should spend “One Night in Bangkok”!
Getting around is so much fun, the super-clean but sometimes crowded Sky Train winding its way through the skyscrapers. Down to the Chao Phraya river and the river boats criss-crossing to Wat Arun whilst the boats with different coloured flags run up and down the river loaded with both tourists and locals. If your exact destination isn’t covered by boat or train then multi-coloured tuk-tuks will whisk you the rest of the way.
Daytime brings heat, sometimes stifling, crowds in the old China Town, bustling, colourful markets, vegetables, meat, flowers, food, anything you can think of!
Tourists swarming around the city’s numerous magnificent Temples whilst monks are going about their daily routines. The City Palace or Jim Thompson’s house are both well worth a visit if your ‘Buddha’d out’… Tranquility, if required, can be found in Lumphini park or perhaps a boat trip around the back canals.
Come evening then the City of Angels comes alive, full of colour, noise, delicious smells from the street vendors selling their food on many corners. As the evening moves on so does the entertainment, risqué definitely, sleazy sometimes but great fun none the less. We are out as a couple just watching the world go by, can’t be many better places to do this?
From Soi Cowboy to the Nana Plaza and the world famous Pat Pong they are all good fun, no doubt if you want a little more than a drink then you wouldn’t go home disappointed!
